Pathologist

Duties and Responsibilities: As a pathologist, you might examine and diagnose bodily fluids, such as blood and urine, or tissues from biopsies and Pap smears, to diagnose disease. You may probably perform autopsies to determine a cause of death. You will also treat diseases and make sure blood transfusions are safe. Also develop vaccines against infectious diseases and inherited conditions. Research and develop new tests and treatments.

 Salary: $302,610

 Education:   

  • 5-year degree in medicine, recognized by the General Medical Council(GMC)
  • 2-year foundation course of general training
  • 5 or 6-year specialist training program in pathology
Demand or Need for Profession: 
  • excellent communication skills
  • the ability to work under pressure and make quick, accurate decisions
  • to be good at recognizing visual patterns
  • good problem solving skills
  • the ability to put people at their ease and inspire trust and confidence

Reflection:  This career does interest me because its about doing science and autopsies. Also because you get paid very well. Plus you get to do so many experiments and labs.
