A choice: Poverty or Prosperity

''I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and I can change that (poverty). It depends upon how hard I want to work, and I decided that I would change it.''

What Dr. Ben Carson is trying to say is poverty is not a big deal. Its okay if you live with poverty. But if you dislike poverty then you should change that by working really hard. The only way you will change poverty is by having a good education. Education is key because without it you wouldn't be able to get a good job. Plus, you must know your stuff and you must work really hard. For example, Dr. Ben Carson lived in poverty. Now he did not like it but he said that he wanted to change that. He was also not a very good student in his class. Then he started to study more and read and sooner or later he started to study to be a surgeon. After being a surgeon he decided to run for presidential candidate. SO now hes not in poverty anymore. He stopped being in poverty by working hard and being focus. You can always achieve your goal if you work hard.

Forgive

Student Success Statement ''When a deep injury is done us, we never recover until we forgive.'' Alan Paton What Alan Paton is saying is that forgiveness is healing. It's important to forgive. Once you forgive you feel better about yourself. You also feel more peaceful. An example is that if you and your brother had a big fight and it hurt you. You should still forgive him because no matter how long ago that fight was from he's still your brother. Plus once you forgive him you won't be angry at him anymore. Another example is if someone was once drunk driving and they crash a car. They will go to jail and then if the car was broken really badly the owners will be very angry at the person. But sooner or later if the person ask for forgiveness they should forgive them. Because if they beg for your forgiveness or not it shows that they care and they truly feel sorry. Plus you'll feel better once you forgive them.

An example of having good character is if you're helping a elder cross the street. That's showing good character because you're helping someone and you're being caring. You're taking some time away to help someone and do good. An example of having bad character is when the teacher calls on you to do a problem and you respond back with attitude saying no and how you didn't even raise your hand. This example that I will say is an example of having good character and knowing your intelligent. Lets say that you're a good person as if you do all your homework, you help the environment after school, and you're good at playing basketball. Student Success Statement ''Being a c-t-r person isn't always easy, but it's the best person you can be.'' Diana Beltran What this means is that being a ctr person isn't always easy but you should try to be one still. Being a ctr person will make you a better you. It will teach you how to better yourself. Also being a ctr will make people want to be with you because they know you're a good person. An example of someone being a ctr person is helping out the community by picking up trash around. Another example of being a ctr person is if someone ask you to help them out with a project to tutoring. That is being a ctr person because you're being kind and helping them out.
