''You can't be right by doing wrong; you can't be wrong by doing right''
by: Thomas S. Monson

What Thomas is trying to say is that don't think you're doing the right when you're doing something bad. An example would be if you're going to smoke a cigarette is doing something wrong but, you believe its right. That is what he's trying to say that you might believe you are doing something right but its actually wrong.Another example would be if you're cheating of a test. You might think its right because you're going to get a good grade but its actually wrong. Now the next part is that you cant say somethings wrong when its actually right. For example if your friends are having problems and they ask you for advice. When you're giving them advice you might think your advice is wrong or you're not good at it. It doesn't matter because you're giving them a favor and it's choosing the right. So the best thing is to always do the right even if you feel it's wrong. It's important to know that because you'll build character.

Alcoholism Alcoholism is an addiction to the consumption of alcoholic liquor or the mental illness and compulsive behavior resulting from alcohol dependency. Some facts are that according to the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse, almost 80% of high school students have tried alcohol. Alcohol is created when drains, fruits, or vegetables are fermented. When people drink alcohol, its absorbed into their bloodstream. From there it affects the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord), which controls virtually all body functions. Because experts now know that the human brain is still developing during our teens, scientists are researching the effects drinking alcohol can have on the teen brains. Alcohol is a depressant, which means it slows the function of the central nervous system. Alcohol actually blocks some of the messages trying to get to the brain. This alters a persons perceptions, emotions, movement, vision, and hearing. People wh...

Be True

Student Success Statement ''I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong.'' Abraham Lincoln This student success statement is about how you should always be true to yourself and others. When you're true to yourself you show that you respect yourself. You should always stand for what you believe is right. When you stand up for your right/ what you believe in you're being true to yourself. An example of standing for whats right is if your friends want to go smoke and they invite you. Maybe a part of you would want to go because you want to fit in with them but you know its not right. There you are being true to yourself because you know it's wrong so you won't go and join them. Another example is if you're taking a test and your friend asked you form the side to let them copy. You might want to do it because they're ...

A choice: Poverty or Prosperity ''I hated poverty. Poverty is more of a choice than anything else, and I can change that (poverty). It depends upon how hard I want to work, and I decided that I would change it.'' Dr. Ben Carson What Dr. Ben Carson is trying to say is poverty is not a big deal. Its okay if you live with poverty. But if you dislike poverty then you should change that by working really hard. The only way you will change poverty is by having a good education. Education is key because without it you wouldn't be able to get a good job. Plus, you must know your stuff and you must work really hard. For example, Dr. Ben Carson lived in poverty. Now he did not like it but he said that he wanted to change that. He was also not a very good student in his class. Then he started to study more and read and sooner or later he started to study to be a surgeon. After being a surgeon he decided to run for presidential candidate. SO now hes not in poverty anym...
